What is Facebook Pixel?

Facebook Pixel is Facebook’s custom audience retargeting tag.

When you use Facebook Pixel with Linkly, users who click on your links are automatically added to your Facebook Custom Audience.

This allows you to target ads at users who have clicked your link.

First, you’ll need to create a pixel on Facebook.

Then:

  1. Create a link on Linkly.

  2. Under Facebook Pixel, enter the Facebook Pixel ID that Facebook gives you.

  3. Save your link.

Manual Integration: Adding Facebook Pixel to a Link

Add Facebook Pixel to links you share, in order to build custom audiences on Facebook.

You’ll want to use this method when doing advanced event tracking.

First, you’ll need to create a pixel on Facebook.

To do this:

  1. Inside Facebook’s Business Manager, click the menu at the top, and select Events Manager.

  2. Go to the Pixels tab.

  3. Click Manually add pixel code to website.

  4. Copy the code and paste it in Linkly, under Retargeting Pixels -> Head Tags.

  5. You’ll want to add a custom tracking event to Facebook, so you’ll know people came from this link. Click Track Event on Page Load and give your event a name.

  6. Copy the event code and paste in Linkly, under Retargeting Pixels -> Body Tags.

    Make sure it goes in the body tags section, otherwise the event won’t work.

  7. Save your link in Linkly and then test it.

  8. Click Test Events on Facebook to check that data is flowing to Facebook.

Facts about Facebook Pixel & Links

  • When users click on your link, they are momentarily shown a blank page on which the Facebook pixel fires, before being redirected to the final destination.

  • This process is invisible and almost instant.

  • You can use a pixel across all links by setting in the default link settings. Go to Settings -> Default Link Settings in the menu.

  • You can also use Google Tag Manager with Linkly.
